“Focus on the moment, not the monsters that may or may not be up ahead.”
― Ryan Holiday, The Obstacle Is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Adversity to Advantage
This picture was at the end of the final workout of the 2013 Socal Regional and the last time I competed as an individual at Regionals. This was a rough year. Over the years I have reflected on this weekend and learned a ton. In the moment it was like a nightmare as I finished in 9th place at the end of the weekend.
This is one of my favorite quotes. We are afraid of the unknown. The monsters that may or may not lie ahead. It paralyzes us. It stops us in our tracks. It keeps us from moving. We are afraid of something that may or may not even exist. We need to focus on the moment. On each individual moment. We need to be present. We need to move.
