“In a wide variety of human activity, achievement is not possible without discomfort.”
― Alex Hutchinson, Endure: Mind, Body, and the Curiously Elastic Limits of Human Performance
This idea of discomfort or struggles being the path we should chase can be a surprise or a very foreign idea for many of us, depending on how you were raised. I think a lot of times we are raised thinking, not sure where the idea comes from, that struggles and hard times and discomfort and BAD things. That we should do everything in our power to be COMFORTABLE because being UNCOMFORTABLE is BAD.
This kid on my shoulders turned 10 years old yesterday. My first born son! Something that my wife and really put a lot of effort into teaching him from a young age is that being UNCOMFORTABLE is an gift. Struggles and hard times are the only time we grow and improve. We want him to have an advantage in life as he grows up and becomes an adults. We want him to truly understand this concept.
